The patient journey resource has been used by learners in the workplace to explore the attitudes, behaviours and employability skills needed for working with patients. Learners engage with patient histories to consider their roles and responsibilities in providing patient-centred care.

Use it with learners to:

  • identify the key features of patient-centred care
  • identify how different professional disciplines across health and care work together to provide a seamless service to the patient
  • identify the principles of customer care.

Use it to develop your own practice

Consider how you would:

  • use multimedia to develop case studies
  • adapt the graphic organisers (floor plans, speech bubbles) to meet the needs of your learners
  • explore the principles of quality of care in other work settings such as a residential home or day nursery.
