Small steps - big difference

Small steps - big difference

This CPD activity aims to:

- stimulate discussion about change

- promote a forward-looking, positive view of change, based on what you already know and do successfully

- focus on solutions, not problems.

When you open the diagrams on the next two screens, you will see that the activity uses a scaling approach. Work with a colleague and use the prompts and questions to help each other to reflect on the extent to which you engage with the issues shown. If you are working alone, use the prompts and questions to support your reflection.

The scales are personal to you and are to help you judge where you are now in relation to the issues shown - and to consider where you would like to be. You can use this approach to address many issues relating to teaching and learning. Use the blank diagram in the guidance notes to create your own version.

Download and print the guidance notes, which include copies of the diagrams.

  • To get the most out of the activity, prioritise your ideas and build them into your professional development plan.
  • Revisit the activity to review your progress when you have completed your plan.
