Gap filling is a routine addressed by several programs specific to language learning, such as TaskMagic, Fun with Texts, the WIDA suite and Hot Potatoes. These are given as examples only - there are many others. Using the last one of these, you can choose which words learners will need to supply.

Tools such as TaskMagic or Fun With Texts, give the option of automatically deleting words at fixed intervals (though under your control) to make a Cloze test.
