Learners and teachers, tutors and trainers need to have a shared appreciation of the purpose of the review so that they can prepare themselves appropriately and focus on what is important. Your aim should be to help learners 'take the driving seat' so that they develop confidence in their own abilities to reflect and plan.
The review process typically involves four stages:
It must be emphasised that the learner is a partner in the whole process. When you create or review your processes you should consider how well you listen to learners and whether you might need to change the balance between listening and talking.
