Fair play - Equality and diversity

This activity can help stimulate discussion and provide you with a vehicle to explore how your learners perceive equality and diversity. You need to plan the session so that you can:

  • manage discussion that allows people to explore their perceptions
  • manage discussion that can challenge perceptions in a positive way
  • provide information, for example, about legislation, case studies, facts.

You will need to be well prepared and have up-to-date and accurate information about aspects of equal opportunities in the work place. A useful source information is ACAS, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (New browser window: Acas website).

Learning objective
When learners have completed this activity, they will be able to:

  • understand what 'equal opportunities in the workplace' means
  • put forward an argument and provide evidence for their position
  • listen to the views of others
  • reflect on their own learning.
