Adapting resources

Two learners working together with a tutor Learners working on an activity

In this section, we see these resources being used at one of the pilot sites. Using the pack, Mark, a teacher, was able to identify opportunities to further develop his own resources to support learners doing work on telecommunications. This activity proved highly successful and Mark shared the logic and the use of cards with colleagues. Peter, one of Mark's colleagues, recognised the value of the methodology and developed an activity to support learner awareness and reflection. Below, you can observe each of the adaptations and assess their value for your own work.

Telecommunications activity

Mark adapted a flow-charting activity from the National Teaching and Learning Change Programme (NTLCP) Engineering resources. His aim was to help his learners to understand the difference between two types of telecommunications networks.

Reflecting on learning

There is a wide range of creative applications for the card sort activities. In this case, Peter wanted his learners to reflect on what they had learned and relate this to their career goals.

The activities in this resource can be adapted for use with other topics and assessment values.
